As part of an expansion of services, Rochester General Hospital has relocated their ambulatory surgery center to a new facility at Linden Oak Office Park. The new center includes six operatories and two procedure rooms.
The Surgery Center is an addition to an existing office building housing offices for physicians and surgeons. The steep grades of the site presented challenges for the layout of the building. Thorough understanding of functional relationships and circulation of patients, visitors, physicians, staff and materials throughout the center resulted in a successful solution split between two levels.
The wooded surroundings presented an opportunity to provide views of nature, which was maximized in the daylighted lobby and waiting areas. Natural light will also be introduced to the operatories while maintaining privacy.
